If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen quite a few cup holders I’ve made recently.
Would you believe if I told you that each of them are made differently?
I started with a really simple cozy with strap, and went on to experiment with different stitches to provide better stretch and tested the different ways the strap could be attached to the cozy.
And then, I thought up of having slits for the straw and ensure that they would be big enough for the straws for pearls but not too big for regular ones.
This pattern that I’m sharing today is the one I’m the most satisfied with. I hope you enjoy it!

Mark the 18th and 23rd stitch of the last round of the cozy. We will be working back and forth in the 6 stitches in those marks (both stitch inclusive).

2 | SS to next stitch on the cozy. Turn. CH 1, 56 SC on the strap. SS to next available stitch on cozy | 56 |

4~5 | SS to next stitch on the cozy. Turn. CH 1, 56 SC on the strap. SS to next available stitch on cozy | 56 |
6 | SS to next stitch on the cozy. Turn. CH 1, 56 SS on the strap. SS to next available stitch on cozy – this should be the marked 18th stitch on the cozy | 34 |
Note:
You can definitely crochet the strap from scratch and then sew it on after.
It’s a personal preference that I find it more secure when I worked the strap directly with the cozy, it actually stretch lesser. I also find the tension more even than sewing and looked neater.

You may choose to block or use directly, since both would meant getting the cozy damp and fitted onto a cup. 😁
