Moss Stitch

One of the simplest fancy stitch put together by the simplest stitches.

Abbreviations

CHChain
SCSingle Crochet
*A* × BRepeat “A” for a number of B times

  • Turn after each row.

Multiples

  • Even number of CH

Base

  • SC in 4th CH from hook
  • Repeat *CH 1, Skip 1, SC in next*

Pattern repeat

  • CH 2, SC in first CH-1 space
  • Repeat *CH 1, Skip SC, SC in next* CH-1 space

Variant

  • Make Long Single Crochets in stitch 2 rows down instead of working SC in the CH-1 space for tighter and sturdier work
